Carestream

Carestream logoCarestream Health, Inc. is an internationally successful company providing medical and dental imaging systems and information technology solutions; molecular imaging systems; and non-destructive testing products to a broad base of customers around the world.

Carestream Health joined the WHITIA alliance in 2008 and is a supplier of the computed radiography system (CR System) used by WHITIA. Carestream Health donated four systems to WHITIA which are currently being used at WHITIA sites around the world. The CR system is an important part of the WHITIA solution because it enables the digital capacity of the WHIS-RAD system. CR converts the image into digital data which in turn is automatically transferred and processed at the workstation.

Northwestern University

northwestern logoNorthwestern has a history of adopting philanthropic and research based projects around the world.  WHITIA was developed through a Northwestern University and Rotary initiative to bring X-ray to underserved communities.

In 2007, Northwestern developed a student project which outlined the benefits of retrofitting analog x-ray for underserved areas around the world.  It then became clear that there was a need for an organization to facilitate the deployment of these units and ensure sustainability.  This led to the formation of WHITIA.  Northwestern University serves as an essential partner for WHITIA serving as a resource for contacts and advisement.
